Twis just reading an article what started out as
I though it twould make for good debate. Need no stay with just Muslim could put any religon in place. My idea be more "if God talked to you would you believe it was God or not?"
<<(edited text size of quote & made sticky)>>That is actually a very interesting question. I like it!
A few weeks ago I asked a similar question to my friend who is a Mormon. He was going on and on about how great President Hinckly is and how he's the Prophet and everything he says is the literal word from God and must be obeyed without question.
So, I asked him: "If Jesus walked in the room right now and told you Hinkly was a false prophet and you must leave the Mormon church, who would you obey: Jesus or Hinkly."
He said: "Hinkly is the voice of God on Earth, Jesus would never tell me otherwise, so I know it wouldn't really be the real Jesus if he said that. It'd be a false Jesus come to deceive me."
Uhm...okay...whatever.
Personally, I believe in accepting all religions and joining none, because we are all brothers and sisters of the Human race and God by any other name is still God.
All churches and religions that hold that immortality is gained by morality (care, concern, and action for the physical and psychological well being of others) are worshiping different spiritual manifestations of the same God; God can take many forms. God can appear as a man or a woman. God created many religions because he knew no one religion was right for every one. God is good!
And guess what? God by any other name (the Great Spirit, the light, the pleasians, The Force, Mother Earth, Father Time, Brother Wind, Sister Moon, Raven, Cousin It, Mars, Zeus, Venus, Jesus, Allah, Mother Mary, Pan, Odin, Thor, Loki, Papa Legba, Damballa-Wedo, etc) is still God!
I don't think it really matters what I belong to or if I belong to anything or not. A religion is nothing but a set of rules to tell you how to live your life, and I know how to live my life, I don't need a church to tell me what is right or wrong, because you know what? I'm not a stupid idiot! I have a brain and I know how to use my brain and I am able to figure out right and wrong on my own!
And I don't need a religion to tell me who or what God is, because I already know God in my heart and in my life and no religion can ever connect me with God because connecting with God is a private, personal, one on one experience. And guess what: no church owns God!
No church can say they are the "one true church" because no church has God locked up inside. And any church that does have God locked in a cage, is not following a God I want to follow because how powerful a God can he/she be if they are locked in a cage? Huh? Think about it! Would YOU want to follow a God so weak and pitiful that he could be locked up and controlled by one religion? That don't sound like no God to me!
If God was God than he would be every where and in every thing and in EVERY church at all times, because God would be in your heart, mind, body, and soul, enveloping you with love for your fellow mam and Honey, you don't need no church to feel God in your life!
When a church tells me that their God is the "one TRUE God" I ask them, really? I thought God was there for every one. Your God must be different than the one that created all life. So tell me, where did you buy him at? Is WalMart having a 2 for 1 sale? Let me know and I'll come buy a God to rule of JUST MY CHURCH AND NOT THE REST OF THE WORLD too.
I don't want a God that chooses to sit on his ass in one little building/religion and play favorites. The only God I'm interested in is the God that LOVES EVERYBODY REGARDLESS OF RELIGION.
God made no religion. Man made religion to try to hold the monopoly on God and boss other people around.
But yeah, I talk to spirit beings all the time, I'm a channeler (psychic medium) and I've asked them all the same thing: "Which religion should I join?" And they always say the same thing: "None of them. They are all wrong. They are all created by men to fan the vanity of men. The Creator's love is for every one."
Oh, yeah, and one more thing: I'm an ordained minister and have a church (which has no religions and is open to all regardless of their religion or lack there of) and I say these same things from the pulpit to my congregation.
